Oakland Bears Community News

March 2024

And just like that, the 2023-24 youth hockey season is over. Sure, CAHA playoffs and Nationals for tier teams are still on the horizon, but for most NORCAL teams, our journey has come to an end. A big shoutout to the Bears 12A team for making it to the playoffs for the first time. They didn’t advance, but the experience was invaluable.

As we close the book on the youth hockey season, I’d like to shine a spotlight on the OIC’s Adult Hockey League. Oakland is always on the lookout for new teams and players. With games throughout the week, it’s a fantastic way to engage with the community and forge friendships that last a lifetime. Speaking from personal experience, the decade I've spent with my team has been nothing short of remarkable. It's not just about the games, the wins, or the losses; it's about the moments that lie outside the rink. From celebrating weddings to supporting each other through loss, and welcoming new life into our families, these experiences have solidified our bond far beyond the rink.

It's these memories, the celebrations of life's peaks and the shared support during its valleys, that I treasure the most. It’s about more than just hockey; it's about looking out for each other, on and off the ice.

With that said, congrats to the SIAHL-OK Winter Season Champs.
