August 2024
Welcome to the August edition of the Bears Community Newsletter. I hope you’ll bare with me as I migrate the newsletter to a new platform, hence the changing design. If something doesn’t look or act the right way, let me know.
I’m light on pictures and longer-form articles today because, you know, summer and all. Despite that, let’s get into a couple of important and timely updates.
I’ll see you at the rink.

Youth players at all levels are now required to wear a neckguard for all on-ice activities. It’s a good idea to pack an extra one or two in your bag in case your child or their teammate forgets or loses theirs.
Where to Get Neck Guards:
The OIC Pro Shop has stocked up.
You can get a complementary protector from the San Jose Sharks, but please note there is a 4-6 week wait period.
Mouth Guards Required for 12U and Older Players
For families with kids moving into the 12U age bracket, your player is now required to wear a mouth guard for games. Officials will issue a warning for the first infraction and a 10 minute misconduct for further violations. The pro shop carries a selection at the rink.
